WALZER PHILHARMONIE TOUR TO CHINA
January, 2011: Hacko & Walzer Philharmonie Shine on Tour to China
Vienna's Walzer Philharmonie has just returned from a memorable tour to China. Lead by the fiery maestro, Zvonimir Hacko, the orchestra gave a series of twelve concerts in Chinese major metropolitan
areas, performing to enthusiastic, packed houses with audiences ranging from 2000 to 7000. The three
week tour included cities such as Dalian, Tianjing, Jinzhou, Shenyang, Yinchuan, Xiangfan, Zhoushan, Ningbo, Taiyuan, and culminated in Beijing at the concert hall of China National Philharmonic. The local press and dignitaries praised Hacko's superb musicality and assured leadership. The orchestras played with verve and expressiveness like it was "plugged into a high voltage current"
(stated Yinchian press). The
repertoire included traditional Viennese music including works by Mozart, Brahms, Lehar, and Johann Strauss Jr. The reception and the rapport with local audiences was such a huge success that the orchestra received immediate offers for future engagements. Two other tours are also in the works as a result of the success in China: one to Spain, and another to China. The organizers praised the orchestra for performing with vigor and fidelity equal to Viennese highest standards.
